WhozDat is a cognitive matching game designed to help individuals (such as parents, grandparents, or those experiencing memory challenges) stay connected with their family by reinforcing the connection between faces, names, and voices.
It can also be used to create identification games with:
• birds
• animals
• musical instruments
• flowers
• musical notes
• mathematical principles
• something else you want to learn through repetition
The app is built around two key principles:
• Personalization: The game is intended to be used with photos and voices of real family members, friends, birds, animals or instruments.
• Multi-Sensory Learning: By combining visual photos, written names, spoken questions, and real recorded voices of family members, animals or birds, the app stimulates multiple cognitive pathways to reinforce recognition.
The game features two modes:
• Image to name (Select the name from the image)
• Name to Image (Select the image from the name)
And there are six levels of increasing difficulty to choose from.
Using sophisticated text-to-speech technology, the user can teach the app how to pronounce hard-to-pronounce names.
With a very low-cost subscription, the user can create, save, and load multiple games across many devices. Thus, a caregiver can load a different game for each person they care for. Or a parent can load up different learning games for their kids.
When creating a game with family pictures, the user can also load in an audio clip of the person whose picture is shown to provide a personal greeting like: "Hi, Grandma! It's Charlie. You are the best!" The website (https://ListeningToGod.org/WhozDat) also provides a way for remote family members to record the greetings on their phones or laptops and send them to you. Once you save them on your phone, you can load them onto the app.
