A long while back, when transparency modes became a more common (but still expensive) feature, I was desperately curious how something like this didn't exist. I'd curse up a storm about how if I was smart enough to do it myself, I would. Luckily, someone smart enough DID make this, and it works! Tested with my Skullcandy Riff (great budget on ear set with basically no features) and can confirm it's working. Just like manufacturer versions, it's less effective at higher volumes, but it EXISTS!

Have only used for a short time but it is performing the task as advertised and doing so better than other apps I've used so far. I haven't really looked into or used any filters (if available) yet but plan to see what (if any) other features are available in the app now and play with whatever features are included to see if it gets any better still. Overall, it's an easy to use, clean sound and user-friendly app.

This app has important uses outside of safety. I play music as a hobby, and it's nice to be able to hear my drumset or saxophone coming from my ears and blended into the music im practicing along with. There is extremely low latency, too small to notice, which extremely important. You can also hear conversations while listening to music or any form of audio. Being able to adjust the volume gain is also extremely helpful, as different situations require different gains. The ads aren't intrusive.
