About this app

Jerboa is a app for Lemmy, a federated reddit alternative. Jerboa is made by Lemmy's developers, and is free, open-source software, meaning no advertising, monetizing, or venture capital, ever.

Lemmy is similar to sites like Reddit, Lobste.rs, or Hacker News: you subscribe to forums you're interested in, post links and discussions, then vote, and comment on them. Behind the scenes, it is very different; anyone can easily run a server, and all these servers are federated (think email), and connected to the same universe, called the Fediverse.

The current state of the app is promising but in need to massive improvements. Firstly, I think it should be a lot more upfront when initially signing up/adding an account. Secondly there are a few errors and issues with the client that overall make the usage of it a mediocre experience. I'm hopeful for which this client will grow into in the future, but as-is there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Way too buggy to be usable. It's a shame this stuff wasn't ready to align with the reddit fiasco. App crashes, settings randomly change on you. I'm currently unable to change the sorting from Old. So I'm seeing only the oldest content, and this happened randomly so I had no idea until I noticed news articles from 3 years ago. Account keeps getting signed out.

This app crashes too often when I'm following links to communities, or it opens those links in an external browser. The UI also needs to be made more intuitive. I've been logged out a few times just by tapping the back button on my phone when I accidentally got to the account picker screen.
