About this app

Is today a half-staff day? HalfStaff tells you in seconds.

HalfStaff is the simple way to know when the U.S. flag should be lowered, and why. Whether you fly a flag at home, at your business, or at a school or public building, you'll always know the current flag status for the nation and the states you care about.

KNOW THE STATUS AT A GLANCE
Open the app and see right away whether flags should fly at full or half-staff.

NEVER MISS AN ORDER
Get notified when a presidential proclamation or a governor's order lowers flags nationwide or in a state you follow.

FOLLOW YOUR STATE
Follow one state or several. See governor-ordered half-staff days alongside national ones, all in one place.

KNOW YOUR STATE'S RULES
See how each state handles half-staff observances, whether it's required by law, set by state policy, or left to the governor's discretion.

EVERY ORDER, ON RECORD
Browse past half-staff days with dates, scope (national or state), and the reason behind each one, so you can take a moment to remember the people and events being honored.

HalfStaff: Stay informed. Honor together.
