Definitely in the same category as Seedship but it adds more complexity, more dimensions to the decisions you make. I liked Seedship enough that I was happy to pay $10, regardless of how much I ended up liking Chiron Gate, but it turned out it's a great game and too. I just finished a game and really enjoyed it. Some reviewers say the game is too hard, but you just need to be conservative, once you start to figure out what's dangerous, take fewer risks to avoid injuring your crew.

A fun little text-based adventure. Overall a very impressive, fun experience, with just a few flaws: More variety in encounters could go a long way. You'll see most of the different encounters within a few hours. The RNG could use some weighting as the game goes on - it sucks to have almost all your scanners upgraded but be greeted by a selection of barren systems late-game. Why would a heavily injured explorer still go out as part of a shore party? Overall, it's good. Try it out.

Update: I've replayed this a couple times & found my subsequent explorations more challenging. Fun game. Wayyy too short. I cleared this game on my first go with little effort. Maybe a couple hours of gameplay? Wish this game was longer, or possibly just more challenging. The dialogue does get repetitive, but I found some joy in the attachments I made to some of my crew. Was it worth the price? Probably.
