Gomoku — also called five in a row, or gobang — playable alone, with one friend, or with two.
No opponent around? A CPU sits down with you. No connection? It still plays, fully offline.
If you know tic-tac-toe, you already know how it works: take turns, build a line.
Gomoku just needs five in a row instead of three.
And then a third hand joins the board, and it stops being the game you knew.
Joker Trio is gomoku for three — black, white and grey on one board.
The move that blocks one player is the move that helps the other. That never happens in a two-player game.
■ Ways to play
· Alone — offline against the CPU. Pick a difficulty, play any time, no connection needed.
· One on one — 1v1 online under classic Renju rules (no double-three, double-four or overline). Open all day.
· Three players — online three-player gomoku. Three people have to arrive at the same moment, so these matches open on a fixed schedule: 06–09, 12–13 and 18–21, Korea time (UTC+9).
· With your own friends — open a room, share the 6-digit code, play whenever you like. Short a player? A CPU takes the empty seat. The host sets the rules, board size and clock.
■ How three-player gomoku works
· Connect five in a row and you win outright.
· If nobody connects five, Line scores decide it — the longer your rows, the more you score.
※ A three open at both ends is 3 points, open at one end 1, blocked at both 0. A four is 4 and 2.
· There is no winner and loser here. There is 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
· Three-player games have no forbidden moves. Two-player games use the classic Renju rules.
· You have to read attack and defence at the same time, against two people at once.
■ Four rule sets (three-player)
· Standard — five in a row, with Line scores settling the rest.
· Blitz — the time per move shortens each round (15→10→5s solo and in friend rooms, 20→15→10s online).
· Defense Limit — you only get so many moves that block someone else's three or more.
· Capture — a group surrounded on every side is lifted off the board, and captured stones decide the ranking.
■ On your own
· CPU matches — two or three players, any difficulty, any time. Works offline.
· Rule Trials — learn each of the four rule sets across three stages. Finish one and it leaves a seal.
· Daily quest — a different rule set each day.
■ Things to collect
· Earn coins to unlock boards and stone-placing effects
· Rank avatars — servant, merchant, scholar-official, noble — and emotes
· Seasonal cosmetics that follow the old Korean solar terms
■ Playing for stakes with friends
· Agree on the forfeit before the game. Buy the coffee. Do the dishes. One favour, owed.
· All three press their seal on the contract, and the result is shown at the end.
· ※ Wagering real money is not supported.
■ Make it yours
· 13×13 or 19×19 board
