JONIVIEW shows the apps on your Android phone on your car's screen, through the car's own web browser. Use navigation, music and video on the big screen and tap right on the car's display.
It works with Tesla, or any car that can join a phone hotspot (Wi-Fi) and has a web browser. No dongle, cables or extra hardware.
Your apps, as they are
• There's no list of supported apps. Navigation, video, music, games: whatever is on your phone works on the car screen.
• Many cars have no CarPlay or Android Auto. JONIVIEW uses the car's web browser instead.
Split the screen
• Put two apps side by side or one above the other, at any ratio.
Tap right on the car screen
• Search for a destination or type on the keyboard, right on the car's display.
• Sound plays through the car's speakers.
Your phone stays yours
• The car screen runs separately, so you can keep navigation on the car and use your phone for something else.
Your screen stays between phone and car
• The picture travels only between your phone and your car, inside your phone's hotspot. It is never sent to our servers or stored.
• A 6-digit code keeps other people out.
• The screen doesn't go through the internet, but videos and maps on your phone still use mobile data.
Connected in three steps
1. Turn on your phone's mobile hotspot and connect the car to its Wi-Fi.
2. Open JONIVIEW and tap "Start car connection".
3. Type the address shown in the app into the car's browser. Bookmark it for next time.
First-time setup uses Wireless debugging
• Just once, on Wi-Fi (e.g. at home), follow the in-app guide to turn on Developer options and pair with Wireless debugging. After that, just tap Start; in the car, your hotspot is enough.
• JONIVIEW uses it to run a helper on this phone that shows your apps on the car screen and passes on your touches. The app asks for your consent first.
• To do this, JONIVIEW gives itself permission to change system settings (WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS). It turns on Wireless debugging when needed (also after a restart, once you join Wi-Fi) and USB debugging if it's off, and turns them back off when it stops. When you tap the car screen, it switches to the JONIVIEW Car Keyboard (shown in the notification) until you tap a text field on the phone or stop.
• While in use, this phone's debugging port is open on the same network (including the car hotspot) and can stay open until you restart the phone, so avoid untrusted Wi-Fi and devices. You can turn it off at any time in Settings > Developer options.
Why JONIVIEW uses a VPN
• JONIVIEW uses Android's VPN feature only to give your phone one link-local address that the car's browser can reach.
• Your internet traffic does not pass through it. Nothing is sent to a VPN server, and no traffic is collected or logged.
• It runs only while the car connection is on, after you agree in Android's VPN dialog. It may not work alongside another VPN app.
Try it, then buy once
• Free to install. Try the car screen for 10 minutes in total per device to check that it works with your car and phone.
• After that, a one-time lifetime license keeps the car screen working. No subscription, no extra charges. "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer JONIVIEW.
• One license covers up to 2 devices per account. The local price is shown on Google Play.
• You can request a refund on Google Play within 48 hours of purchase.
What you need
• An Android phone running Android 12 or later
• A car that can join your phone's hotspot (Wi-Fi) and has a web browser
• Copy-protected (DRM) video shows black on the car screen.
Please use it safely
Don't watch videos or operate the car screen or phone while driving. Keep videos for when you're parked or charging, set up navigation and music before you set off, and follow your local laws.
