About this app

This app displays real-time data from a marine electronics network. To use it, you'll need a boat and some hardware that publishes NMEA-0183 messages onto a Wi-Fi network (I use Yacht Devices' YDWG-02).

Data is shown across one or more pages, each containing a grid of data cells. Long-press any cell to change the data it displays or its format. Swipe left or right to move between pages. You can add or remove pages, and change the number of cells on each page, from the "Pages" menu.

To learn more, tap "Help & License" in the main menu, or tap the question mark at the top right of each form.

As a prudent mariner, please treat the data shown in this app with caution and cross-check it against other sources whenever possible. Many things can go wrong — from a faulty sensor on the boat, to a bug in the software, to a problem with your configuration.

This software is open source and licensed under the MIT License. I develop it as a hobby, but I do spend time every few months expanding and improving it. If you run into problems or have feature requests worth considering, please file an issue at https://github.com/sankeysoft/nmea_dashboard/issues

Good and functional app, appart from the fact that there is no always on option ( i think) and graphs stop recording when exiting the app or turning off display. If it was running in background, that would make it much better. Thank you anyways for your free and solid contribution to the sailing society! I love the fact that I can customise what I want to see and how much of it.

I've loaded this app on both an Android phone and an Android tablet. The data is coming from an NMEA network via an Actisense W2K-1 gateway to the ship's wifi system. On each one it ran OK. However what I observed is that when both were run they simultaneously crashed. They also caused the datastream to my OpenCPN (rev 5.8.4) to lock up and crash as well. When I killed both of these NMEA dashboard apps and rebooted OPCN I could see OPCN restart OK and receive the NMEA datasteam OK (via debug).
