About this app

JNotes is a private notepad for Android. Lock notes with a password, make checklists and to-do lists, and set reminders. Works offline. No ads, no sign-up.

Everything stays on your phone, and there's no account to create. Open the app and start writing.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Lock any note with a password. Locked notes move to the Vault, where they're encrypted on your phone and open only with your 4-digit passcode.
• Locked notes never show on the Home list, in search, in notifications or in the widget.
• No account and no sign-in needed. Your notes never leave your phone unless you choose to back them up.
• No ads, and your notes are never sold or shared.
• Use it as a private diary or journal, or just for the notes nobody else should see.

GET THINGS DONE
• Checklists and to-do lists: tick items off and they slide out of the way. Drag to reorder.
• Reminders: get a nudge this evening, tomorrow morning or any time you pick.
• Pin the notes you need most and favourite the ones you love.
• Home-screen widget and app shortcuts: start a note or checklist in one tap.
• Scan: turn a photo of a page into text, right on your phone.
• Read aloud: listen to any note.
• Search your notes, switch between list and grid, and sort by date or title.
• Share notes or export them as PDF.

WORKS OFFLINE, ON PHONES AND TABLETS
• Works offline. Only the optional backup and downloading new fonts need internet.
• On tablets, your notes and the open note sit side by side.
• Light and dark mode, six calm note colours, and serif, sans or mono text.

BACK UP SAFELY (OPTIONAL)
• Back up to your account and restore on a new phone without duplicates.
• Backups are end-to-end encrypted with a passphrase only you know. Not even we can read them.
• Export all your notes at any time, or delete your account and its backups from the app.
