Cover Screen Trackpad is an alternative input method for people who find a large foldable hard to operate.

An open Galaxy Z Fold is a 7.6-inch display. Reaching its far corners one-handed means stretching, regripping, or using a second hand. That is painful or impossible with limited range of motion, tremor, joint pain, or the use of only one hand — and a good way to drop an expensive phone.

This app turns the cover screen into a trackpad. While a foldable is open, that screen faces away from you, against the hand already holding the phone. Slide a finger there and a pointer moves across the display in front. Tap to click. Hold still, then move, to drag. Pin the pointer against an edge and tap to scroll. Small movements on the back become full-screen travel, so no reach is required — and your fingers never cross the screen you are reading.

WHO IT IS FOR

• People with motor impairments that make a large phone hard to operate: limited range of motion, tremor, joint pain, and hand or wrist conditions such as arthritis
• People using a phone one-handed, by necessity or because the other hand is busy
• Anyone who needs to control a large display with small, low-effort movements
• Anyone who needs a pointer they can see, at up to 250% size

Pointer size and speed are free, and always will be — they matter most if reaching or seeing is the problem.

HOW IT USES THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE API

Cover Screen Trackpad is an accessibility tool and uses Android's AccessibilityService API. The API is the feature itself, not a means to something else:

• Gesture dispatch delivers your taps, drags and scrolls from the cover screen to whatever app is on the main display. Without it the pointer could be drawn but could not act.
• An accessibility overlay draws the pointer over other apps, and optionally an outline of the active touch area.
• Global actions provide an on-screen menu for Back, Home, Recents, Notifications, Quick Settings, Screenshot, Lock and Power. With gesture navigation there are no buttons to point at, so this is the only way to navigate by pointer.

The app reads no screen content. Window content is checked for one narrow purpose: detecting whether a keyboard is on screen, so edge scrolling switches off while you type. No account, no analytics, no advertising, no server.

WHAT YOU NEED

• A Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or Z Fold. It needs a Samsung-only mode that powers both screens at once, which no other maker offers.
• Android 15 (One UI 7) or newer. Older versions either lack that mode or drop it whenever you switch apps.
• Shizuku, a free companion app, set up once. It lets the app keep the cover screen awake while the phone is open. Setup takes a few minutes, no computer needed: covertrackpad.com/setup.html

Check all three before buying. The app says plainly when something is missing rather than failing silently.

SEVEN DAYS OF PRO, THEN IT IS YOURS TO KEEP

Everything below is on for a week, except the cover screen message, which is yours when you buy. The week starts when the trackpad first comes up, not at install, so setup does not eat into it.

After that the trackpad keeps working for free: pointer, tap, drag, long-press, edge-click scrolling, idle fade, pointer size and speed.

PRO is one payment. No advertising, no subscription, ever. It adds:

• Two-finger scrolling, pinch to zoom, and twist to rotate
• The active zone — choose which part of the cover screen responds, so the fingers holding your phone do not move the pointer
• Pointer styles and pointer memory
• Three-finger tap actions and a pointer-clickable menu — not on the Flip 3 or Flip 4, whose panels track two fingers
• A Quick Settings tile, and launching as an on/off switch
• Changing what the cover screen displays
