[What is the High Oil Price Relief Fund?]
In 2026, the government plans to provide High Oil Price Relief Funds to the bottom 70% of the population by income to address the prolonged war in the Middle East, rising oil prices, and increasing inflationary burdens.
Similar to last year's Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons, this relief fund will be distributed in two installments. The first round will prioritize recipients of basic livelihood support, the near-poverty group, and single-parent households. The second round will be distributed to the bottom 70% of the population based on income criteria such as health insurance premiums.
The payment amount varies by region of residence and income level, ranging from 100,000 won to a maximum of 600,000 won per person. Payments are scheduled to be made as follows: 100,000 won for the bottom 70% of income earners in the Seoul metropolitan area, 150,000 won for non-metropolitan areas, 200,000 won for areas designated for population decline preferential treatment, and 250,000 won for special areas for population decline. Recipients of basic livelihood support and those in the near-poverty bracket may receive higher amounts.
The support funds are scheduled to be distributed via credit cards, debit cards, local currency, etc.
