[What is an Energy Voucher?]
The Energy Voucher program provides vouchers to purchase energy for heating and cooling, helping vulnerable populations survive worry-free summers and winters. Recipients can choose to have their energy bills automatically deducted from their electricity, city gas, and district heating bills, or to freely pay for their preferred energy source using their National Happiness Card. Eligible households are those receiving basic livelihood security benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and meeting certain household member criteria*.
* If you or a household member falls under any of the following categories: seniors (65 years of age or older), infants (7 years of age or younger), people with disabilities, pregnant women, people with severe, rare, or incurable diseases, single-parent families, or families with children in foster care.
This year, the support amount and period will be expanded to provide more generous and user-friendly support.
Last year, the average support amount per household was 347,000 won (43,000 won in summer and 304,000 won in winter). This year, the amount will be increased to 367,000 won (53,000 won in summer and 314,000 won in winter). The energy voucher use period will also be extended by approximately one month, from April 30 to May 25.
* 2023: (Summer) Average: 43,000 won, July 1 - September 30 Usage / (Winter) Average 304,000 won, used from October 11 to April 30. 2024: (Summer) Average 53,000 won, used from July 1 to September 30. Usage / (Winter) Average 314,000 won, used from October 1 to May 25.
