Chaeum Naming offers baby name recommendations, search for potential name changes, and analysis of existing names all in one place. For each name, we provide a written explanation of "why this name was chosen."

■ First 1 Minute

Surname, date and time of birth, and gender. After completing these three steps, a Saju summary and three names appear. You will not be asked for registration or a phone number, and you can view the information up to this point without making a payment.

■ Establish the Saju First

Once you enter your date and time of birth, we establish four pillars using the Manseolyeok (Korean calendar) and calculate the distribution of the Five Elements. If you select your birth region, it reflects True Solar Time; if you were born around midnight, you can choose the Yajasi (midnight hour) standard. If you do not know the time, it calculates using three pillars, and you can also include the lunar calendar and leap months.

■ Determine the Energy the Name Will Fill

We determine the 1st and 2nd priorities in the order of the element completely absent from the Saju, the weakest element, and the element that suppresses the overflowing elements. We provide the reasons in sentences, such as "There is no Water at all, but there is a lot of Fire."

■ Eight-Point Name Checklist

We do not stop at a single total score. When you open the checklist in the name details, three mandatory criteria (eligibility for birth registration, appropriate meaning, and harmony with the surname) and five reference criteria (complementation of Saju, pronunciation flow, stroke count, modern name, and difference from siblings) appear one by one. Clicking on an item reveals the basis for the evaluation criteria. We also check what percentage of candidates with the same Saju this name ranks in.

■ Based on Chinese Characters

For each character, we display the meaning and pronunciation, original stroke count, radical, and elemental composition. Recommended characters are selected exclusively from the 8,094 characters designated for personal names, and whether a character is suitable for birth registration is marked as a mandatory item on the checklist for each name. You can also look up a single character in a Chinese character dictionary to verify its meaning and stroke count.

■ You Choose Your Own Criteria

You can change the Pronunciation Five Elements (Unhaebon · Haeryebon), Stroke Count (Original Stroke · Brush Stroke), True Sun Time, Numerology Reflection, and Night Hour in the settings. You can check the criteria used for the calculation directly on the screen. This is largely the reason why scores vary between apps, and we explain these differences in the 5-Minute Nameology Guide.

■ We Don't Look at Just One Criteria

We re-score the same name using eight combinations calculated by multiplying two types of Pronunciation Five Elements, two types of Stroke Count, and two types of Numerology Reflection. We record on a checklist which criteria the score exceeds 80 points and which criteria it fails to meet. We show you how names differ depending on the criteria. You can leave the default values ​​when using it for the first time.

■ Choose with Your Family

Save your favorite names and compare them side by side. You can create voting cards where you simply select a number and send them to your spouse or parents.

■ Analyze Names You Have Already Created

You can analyze your baby's name, your name before a change, or your own name. You can select a Chinese character for each syllable, or interpret Hangul and pure Korean names based on the flow of sound without Chinese characters. The indicators next to the Chinese characters are not symbols but are written as 'Saju' and 'Stroke Count.' The Saju indicator represents a character that replenishes energy lacking in the Saju, while the stroke count indicator represents a character with a favorable stroke count when combined with the surname; the same explanation is displayed on the screen. The recommendation screen and the name analysis use the same calculation method. Unless you change the settings, entering a recommended name into the analysis will yield the same result, and entering the same information will produce the same result regardless of how many times you review it.

■ Name Change, Due Date, Second Child

You do not have to wait for updates even when the year changes. You can enter a due date up to approximately 300 days from today, allowing you to search for current names for a baby born next year. The Manseolyeok calculates both solar and lunar calendars up to the year 2100. There are Name Change Mode and Due Date Mode. In Due Date Mode, you establish a Saju based on the due date to reserve candidates, and the system recalculates the results once the actual date and time of birth are entered. Names saved in sibling profiles with the same surname will be excluded from recommendations. You can create multiple profiles.

■ Leave a Name Certificate

You can print a name certificate containing your Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny), Five Elements distribution, a name checklist, and the basis for the Chinese characters, sized to fit A4 paper, or save it as a PDF. It is ideal for giving as a physical gift to your parents.

■ No Server

There are no accounts or logins. The date of birth and name you enter are calculated and stored only within your device. Since there is no developer server, no one retrieves this information. No advertisements are included. When transferring devices, you must manually export and import backup files in the settings.

■ Suitable for

Parents expecting a baby who want to name their child themselves, those who want to know why a given name is good, those considering a name change who want to see candidates first, those who want to name a second child or twins without overlapping with their first child, and those who want to show candidates to their parents and choose together.

■ FAQ

Can I use it without internet? — Yes. Since all calculations are performed within the device, it works even in airplane mode. The score differs from other apps — the standards for the Five Elements of Pronunciation and stroke count differ. If you change the standard in the settings, it will recalculate based on that standard.

The time pillar differs from other almanacs — this may be due to differences in standards. This app defaults to correcting True Solar Time based on the longitude of the birth location; if you turn this off in the settings, it calculates using standard time.

I do not know the time of birth — it calculates using three pillars. Only the time pillar is omitted, and the rest are viewed as is.

Can I use pure Korean names — yes. It interprets based on the flow of sound without Chinese characters.

What should I do if I change devices — export the backup file in the settings to import it on the new device. Purchases can be restored via "Restore Purchases" in the settings.

■ Open All

Before making a payment, please first fill out the Saju analysis, name checklist, analysis of your existing name, and a Chinese character dictionary, along with the name that best fits each tone (Modern, Neat, and Classic) (a total of three). You can make your final decision after confirming whether you like the recommended names. All names meeting your criteria (view 10 more), conditions regarding family name generation, first letter, letters to avoid, and tone, comparing three names, and printing or saving the naming certificate as a PDF will open via "Open All." You pay only once, and we show you everything rather than just a select few. You will not be charged again even if you create additional profiles for a second child, twins, or a name change. This is not a subscription.

Purchase restoration is available in the Settings and Payment screens. Refunds must be requested via the App Store or Google Play in accordance with store regulations; instructions on how to request a refund are provided on the support page.

A name is the first gift you give to your child. Parents are the ones who choose it, and this app only gathers the criteria for your selection; it does not determine their destiny.
