Cappadocia - Göreme was the religious center of the Christians of the region until the population exchange made according to the 1924 Treaty of Lausanne. For this reason, Christian clergy in other regions frequently visit Goreme to have mutual talks and declare their loyalty. Arseniy, the clergyman living in today's Çamlıca (Farasa), also regularly visited the holy places of Göreme and Cappadocia. He always made these visits on foot in accordance with his belief.
