Ratings and reviews

This game is one of my favorites. The battle system is great and the puzzles in many levels are among the best of any game. The storyline is amazing as well, and I love the references to other games and media scattered throughout the game. Additionally, it excellently executes sad or heartfelt moments that one might not expect from a game of this style. However, since the most recent update, the game keeps crashing and closes itself out while loading.

This is a pretty solid mobile game now. It used to be a classic example of a mobile game that required absurd amounts of money in later worlds and online play. But aside from one terrible boss fight, they've become much more generous and fair. The gameplay is solid, the pixel-art graphics are very nice, and 95% of the puzzles are enjoyable. I'd be happy to support the devs, but most in-app purchases are a rip-off. $25 for a single cosmetic skin is absurd.

I've had this game for three years now. I don't think there's any other game like it. It pays homepage to classic titles such as Zelda, Earthbound, Final Fantasy, etc. It has funny moments and pivotal characters that outshine themselves in their story arcs. The story is very engaging and pokes fun at some of the tropes in video games while adding their own uniqueness. I oftentimes fall off the game, but go back to it knowing where I left off. It's very addicting once getting pass all the bloat.
