Capturing and perceiving the political and sociological "mood" of citizens – beyond statistics – is difficult. This is precisely the task the project "Kaleidoscope: One Person, Three Lives" set itself.
At least 100 senior citizens were interviewed from spring 2022 to summer 2023 about their biographies, the history of their federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, their living and working conditions under various government systems (National Socialism, the GDR, and reunified Germany), and their current political satisfaction. The entire process was captured on camera. The result was the documentary film "Weeds are the only thing still blooming here," an exhibition, and finally nearly 100 short films, which are tagged with keywords and accessible via an app for use in political education.
These politically and historically unique eyewitness accounts make it possible to document moods and use them for political education.
