Karter is a modern home launcher for Android car multimedia screens, landscape tablets, and large touch displays. Replace the factory interface with one driving-focused screen: GPS speed, weather, Bluetooth, music controls, volume, and your apps — all at a glance.

DOCK AND APPS
• Swap dock icons for maps, music, phone, and settings with your own apps
• Move the dock to the left or right on wide screens; optional dual dock for the passenger side
• List all installed apps in the drawer; hide the ones you do not need
• Personalize appearance with light, dark, or system theme

PHONE SCREEN
Use your phone even on head units without a SIM:
• Recent calls and searchable contacts
• Direct dialing from the dial pad
• Outgoing calls over Bluetooth to a paired phone (hands-free)
Permissions are optional — other features keep working if you skip them.

DRIVING ASSISTANTS (enable in Settings)
• Seat belt voice reminder — short spoken prompt after speed stays above a threshold
• Speed gauge heat colors — gauge tint shifts warmer as speed increases
• Internet connected alert — brief sound when connectivity returns after a drop

SETUP
1. Open Karter and complete the setup wizard.
2. Set Karter as your default home app (required).
3. Grant only the permissions you want: location (weather + speed), notification access (now playing info), nearby devices (Bluetooth), contacts / call log / phone (built-in phone screen).

Note: Portrait phones are supported, but the primary design targets landscape car displays.

PRIVACY
Location coordinates are sent only to Open-Meteo for weather. Contacts and call logs never leave your device. Details: in-app Settings → Privacy & data.

REQUIREMENTS
Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer.

What’s new

Fixed voice announcements (speed limit, seatbelt reminder, internet connected) not playing. Music now properly pauses before the announcement and resumes after.
