About this app

FleetGrid Captain is the driver's app for fleets running on the FleetGrid platform. It replaces the paper attendance register, the fuel bill folded into the sun visor, and the phone call to the office asking what you spent this week.

Your fleet operator gives you a Captain ID and a password. Everything you file in the app goes straight to your operator's back office, so there is no second set of paperwork to keep.

START YOUR SHIFT BY SCANNING THE VEHICLE
Scan the QR code on the vehicle to punch in. The app records which vehicle you took, the time, the odometer reading and where you were standing — so a week later there is no argument about who had which car, or when it came back.

Punching out works the same way, without the scan. The vehicle comes from the shift you already started.

SEE YOUR OWN ATTENDANCE
Punch history lays out every shift by date, with hours worked, shifts completed and distance covered. Pick any range — this week, last month, or a custom window — and the totals follow.

FILE FUEL ENTRIES FROM THE FORECOURT
Record what you pumped while you are still at the pump: litres, rate, amount, odometer, station and receipt number. Enter any two of litres, rate and amount and the app works out the third, so the three numbers on your entry never contradict each other.

CLAIM ADVANCES AND EXPENSES
File cash you took from the company up front, and money you spent out of your own pocket, against the date and the vehicle. Each entry goes to the payout desk for review, and the app shows you what you have filed and when.

CHECK CHALLANS ON YOUR VEHICLE
See the traffic challans recorded against the vehicle you are driving — the offence, the fine, the date, the place, and the challan number — so you know about a challan before it reaches your settlement. Records come from your fleet's RTO lookups; if something is already paid or looks wrong, your supervisor can have it corrected.

KEEP THE APP TO YOURSELF
Turn on app lock and the app asks for a PIN, or your fingerprint or face, before it opens. Useful when the phone is shared, or lives on the dashboard.

BUILT FOR A LONG SHIFT
Light and dark themes, both designed to stay readable through a windscreen in daylight and not blind you at 2am. Small payloads throughout, because drivers are on mobile data.

WHY THE APP ASKS FOR PERMISSIONS
Camera — used only to scan the QR code on the vehicle when you punch in. No photos are taken or stored.
Location — recorded at the moment you punch in and punch out, so your fleet can confirm the vehicle handover. The app does not follow you between punches and does not track location in the background.
Notifications — assignments and messages from your office.

WHO THIS APP IS FOR
Drivers of fleet operators who already use FleetGrid. You need a Captain ID issued by your operator. You cannot create an account inside the app, and the app is not useful without one.
