About this app

You meant to call. You always mean to call.

Kept is a voice journal for the people you don't want to drift from - friends, family, and the ones you see far too rarely. Talk for a minute after you have seen someone, and Kept writes it down, works out who you meant, and hands it back the next time it matters.

No account, and nothing to upload. There is no sign-up, no contacts to hand over and no card to enter. Your journal is organised by person and it stays on your phone. Everything is free for 14 days, and after that you can still read every note you have written and type as many new ones as you like, for nothing.

JUST SAY IT
Hold the mic and talk the way you would tell a friend about your day. Kept turns your voice into a note and pulls out the details on its own - the new job, the sister's name, the operation next month. Nothing is filed until you say so.

WALK IN ALREADY KNOWING
Every person gets a page that fills up as you go. Ten seconds before you see them, you can remember what they were worried about last time, and how it turned out. That is really the whole app.

A NUDGE, NOT A TO-DO LIST
Kept tells you when a birthday is coming up, and when someone you care about has gone quiet. Then it gets out of the way. No streaks, no red badges, nothing designed to make you feel guilty.

IT KNOWS WHO YOU MEAN
Call her Soph and it files it under Sophie. Mention someone new and they get a page of their own. No forms, no fields, no tidying up afterwards.

NOBODY ELSE READS IT
Your journal stays on your phone. There is no account, no feed, no social graph, and no copy of your notes on our servers. While you are recording, your voice is sent to become text and that text becomes your notes - processed in the moment and not stored. You can export everything to CSV, or delete all of it, whenever you like.
Photos you add to a note stay on your phone and are never uploaded. If you allow it, Kept sends limited usage diagnostics - like "a note was filed" - tied to a random ID, never to you. They never include your notes, recordings, photos, contacts or names, and you can turn them off or delete them in Settings.

What’s new

Photos on notes. Add up to six photos to any note, from the camera button or "Add a photo". They stay on your phone and are never uploaded.

Clearer privacy. Kept can send limited usage diagnostics, like "a note was filed", tied to a random ID. Never your notes, recordings, photos, contacts or names. Turn them off or delete them in Settings.

Screens now fit small phones and large text in every language.
