The Notion-in-Motion Lab's didactic app "Live Emotions" consists of sets of small video-clips. Each set illustrates a certain emotion.
Feelings and emotions are abstract terms that are difficult for child to understand. The ability to identify you own emotion and understand others’ is a main part of emotional intellect.
Speech therapists and parents usually use cards with “frozen” static faces to help children understand the meaning of emotions. However, cards are fragments that don't allow one to feel the dynamics and context, which are the main characteristics of a feeling. One must look at the dynamics of face expression to understand what feeling is hidden behind it. All that is perfectly covered by our short videos designed by NOMO Lab.
Video has another advantage – it can show the situation, the context that will explain the relevant emotion even better.
And the last thing is sound. Sounds are part of the emotional
expression (cry, sigh, laugh..).
The “Live Emotions” series is designed to better understand an emotion
"in progress". Each emotion has several video-representations for a deeper understanding and generalization.
Application settings allow you to switch on/off audio and textual prompts.
