About this app
Welcome to Kimihia, the Ministry of Social Development’s cultural intelligence app.
Kimihia is an interactive learning resource to strengthen skills, knowledge and abilities in Te Ao Māori.
The app includes information on the Ministry’s Strategic Direction – Te Pae Tawhiti – Our Future, MSD’s Māori Strategy – Te Pae Tata, key Māori concepts and values, te reo Māori (language), tikanga (custom) and waiata (songs) to help staff understand more about our unique and shared cultural heritage and further express our MSD vision and purpose.
Interactive features within the app include pronunciation of Māori words, maps with Māori names and iwi groups, mihimihi/pepeha (introductions), ngā mihi (greetings), poroporoaki (farewells), whakataukī (proverbs), and waiata (songs).
A key feature allows you to input your own personal information to create a customised pepeha.
