About this app

Knock is a messenger built on one idea: nothing happens without your yes.

No phone number. No SIM. Your identity is a handle you choose — share it with the people you want, and only them.

CONSENT FIRST

Nobody can message you, add you to a group, or even see you without knocking first. Every connection starts with a request you can accept or decline. Group adds work the same way — no more waking up in a group you never asked to join.

REALLY PRIVATE

• End-to-end encryption on every message, photo, file and voice note — the server only ever stores ciphertext.
• Optional App Lock: require your fingerprint, face or PIN to open the app, with screenshots and the recents preview blocked while it's on.
• No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDK, no contact-list upload. Crash reports are off unless you switch them on, and never include your messages.
• Notifications tell you who wrote, not what they said — the push that wakes your phone carries no message content at all.

ON YOUR TERMS

• Attention controls per conversation: Normal, Mentions only, or Quiet.
• Schedule messages to send later — anything up to 24 hours out.
• Personas: keep work-you and personal-you as fully separate identities in one app.
• Single-tick receipts by design — read status is yours to give, not taken.

SAFETY

• Block anyone, from their name in a chat or while reporting them. Blocked people can't reach you, and you can unblock from Settings.
• Report a message to our moderators in two taps.

EVERYTHING YOU EXPECT

Groups, replies, forwards, reactions, edits and deletes, photos, videos, documents with inline PDF preview, voice notes, QR connect, dark mode, and encrypted account recovery with email fallback.

YOURS TO LEAVE

Delete your account from inside the app, any time. It erases your profile, your email and the messages you sent — permanently, with no support ticket to raise.

BUILT FOR BUSINESS TOO

Verify a work email domain to show a verified-business badge on your profile, so customers know they're talking to the real you.

Knock is built on the open Matrix protocol. All you need to sign up is a handle, a password, and an email address to verify it.

What’s new

Fixed a bug where signing up could get stuck on "check your email" if the app was closed or restarted while you were verifying your address — you can now pick up right where you left off.
