About this app

ChoreKey ties your kid's phone access to chore completion. Apps stay locked at home until the chores you assigned are done, and unlock automatically the moment you approve them.

HOW IT WORKS
• Set your home location and how wide the circle should be.
• Pick the apps that get locked (YouTube, TikTok, games, whatever you want).
• Set a 4-digit PIN so only you can change anything.
• Add chores: one-off, recurring, or claimable. Optionally require a photo as proof.
• Your kid taps the chore, snaps a photo, and it goes to you for approval.
• You enter your PIN, review the photo, and approve or ask for a redo.
• Apps unlock the second all chores are approved. Walking outside the home circle also lifts the lock. Phones still work when they're away from home.

WHAT WE'LL NEVER BLOCK
• Phone calls. Your kid can always reach you.
• Messages.
• Maps.
• The camera.
• Emergency dialer.
• Settings. Locking a kid out of their own device settings is worse than the risk of them switching ChoreKey off, and you would see that they had.
This is a hard guarantee, written into the app: these apps are not offered in the picker, so a parent cannot block them by mistake.

PRIVACY-FIRST BY DESIGN
• No accounts. No cloud. No analytics. No third-party trackers.
• Everything (chores, completions, photos, home coordinate) lives only on the kid's phone.
• Photos auto-purge 7 days after approval.

ANDROID PERMISSIONS WE USE
• Accessibility: to detect when a locked app is opened and replace it with a "finish your chores first" screen. We do NOT collect anything you type.
• Location: to work out whether the device is inside your home circle. ChoreKey does not ask for background location. It checks position only while its own foreground service is running, and the coordinate never leaves the device.
• See all installed apps: so you can choose which ones to lock. ChoreKey reads the list to build the picker and nothing else; it is never sent anywhere.
• Display over other apps: to paint the "finish your chores" screen over a locked app.
• Camera: for the chore-proof photos.

WHO THIS IS FOR
Parents whose kids have their own Android phone and who want the screen-time, homework and chore conversation to enforce itself instead of being a daily fight.

WHAT THIS ISN'T
• Not a full parental-control suite. It does one thing, gate the kid's apps on chore completion at home, and tries to do it well.
• Not a tracker. We don't record location history.
• Not an AI grader (yet, that's a planned premium tier).

What’s new

ChoreKey has a new look: a dark design across every screen, for both your kid and you. The kid home screen shows chore status more clearly. Parents get a new week view for chore history and a faster way to review and approve. Locking still works the same: apps stay locked at home until chores are approved.
