About this app
A/SIDE is a private social app for sharing photos, videos and updates with friends and family. Your feed is only the people you connect with, newest first. No ads. No algorithm deciding what you see. No AI in the app, and no training AI on your content.
SHARE WITH YOUR PEOPLE
Post to all your approved connections or choose private Lists for family, close friends or any other circle. List names stay private to you. The audience is set when you post; changing a List later doesn't change who can see earlier posts.
VOICE CAPTIONS
Add a voice caption to a photo, and let friends hear the story behind it. Record up to 60 seconds, listen back before sharing, or remove the recording. Voice captions save with drafts and play when a friend taps them in the feed. No autoplay or automatic recording.
Voice captions follow the post’s audience and are stored by A/SIDE. They are not end-to-end encrypted. There is no transcription service.
A FEED THAT STAYS IN ORDER
Photos, videos and text appear newest first. There are no suggested posts or promoted accounts. Filter your feed with Lists, leave a comment, or react with any emoji.
ENCRYPTED CHATS
New direct and group conversations use end-to-end encryption with the Signal Protocol, including photos sent in those conversations. Feed posts are stored by A/SIDE and are not end-to-end encrypted. Older legacy conversations may contain unencrypted messages; they are not encrypted retroactively.
INDEPENDENTLY HOSTED
Our core servers, database and photo/video storage run with an independent provider outside AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Some supporting services use other providers; details are in our privacy policy.
MAKE A POST, FINISH IT LATER
Add a photo filter and hold to compare with the original. Posts save as drafts while you edit, so you can come back later.
START WITH A FRIEND
Create your account with your email. You don't need an invite to join. Share a personal invite link or use optional contact matching to connect with people you know. Requests need acceptance before you see each other's posts. There are no public profiles or public user directory.
FREE, WITH OPTIONAL PRO
Free accounts can access the most recent 30 days of feed and message history. Older content is not automatically deleted after 30 days. Annual Pro Individual gives one account access to longer history. Pro Family covers up to six people, including you. No ads on any plan. See the app for local subscription prices.
