The web portal can be accessed through www.lango.app. So on any mobile device or PC, one can learn English, Dutch, French, Greek or Turkish and be supported with menu and vocabulary translations in Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Punjabi, Sorani, Kurmanji, Somali, Tigrinya, Albanian. along with English, Dutch, French, Greek or Turkish as support languages also.
The vocabulary can be practised in several study modes. Most of the items will be illustrated for easy concept recognition. There is audio for all vocabulary, phrases and dialogues. The app and portal include the Daily Life video series involving 10 x two-minute episodes about daily life in each of the partnering languages. These episodes also include follow up multiple-choice exercises to support a better understanding of the content and at the same time, teach critical cultural differences.
At LANGO we see the acquisition of host country languages as a critical step for the integration of refugees and asylum seekers. With this app and portal, language learning can begin as self-study from A0 either en route to destination countries or during asylum procedures or even at more advanced levels to expand vocabulary and comprehension.
