Lantern Valley is an interactive mobile application dedicated to the fascinating history and science of lighting fixtures across human civilization. The app combines education, entertainment, and discovery into a single cohesive experience centered around how humanity has illuminated the world for thousands of years.
The core of Lantern Valley is Moth and Lantern, an original physics-based puzzle game where players light up lanterns and draw guiding light beams to attract moths. Each level introduces more moths to capture within a time limit, requiring strategic placement of light paths and careful lantern management. The game features progressive difficulty with increasing complexity and a scoring system that rewards both speed and precision.
Beyond the game, Lantern Valley includes a curated encyclopedia covering ten distinct types of lighting fixtures, from prehistoric fire torches to modern LED technology. Each entry provides historical context, geographic origins, the era of invention, detailed descriptions, and verified fun facts. Users can mark their favorite entries for quick reference.
The Light Quiz section draws from the encyclopedia content, presenting randomized multiple-choice questions that challenge players to recall facts about the history of illumination. Results are scored and categorized to encourage repeated play and deeper learning.
The application features a dark atmospheric design with a warm amber and gold color palette inspired by firelight, custom typography using Cinzel and Quicksand fonts, animated floating lantern elements, and glowing UI components.
