About this game

Laque is a coloring studio for people who like to take their time. An adult coloring book made of real paintings - and a place where finishing something means something.

No lives, no hearts, no countdown, no energy to refill, no ads in the middle of a session. Nothing is scored and nothing is rushed. You open a canvas, you lay down color, and when you decide it is done, it is done for good.

WHAT YOU COLOR

144 canvases, and most of them are real paintings: Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Renoir, Gauguin, Hokusai, Hiroshige, Seurat. Public-domain works from the Met, the Rijksmuseum and the Art Institute of Chicago, redrawn as shapes you can fill. Next to them, patterns drawn for the app - a clean line, plain forms- to get your hand in.

Landscapes, figures, animals, flowers, myths, sacred art, cities, patterns. Four ranks - Awakening, Apprentice, Artisan, Master- so a quiet evening and a long Sunday are not the same canvas.

HOW IT PAINTS

• Tap to fill a whole shape, or drag your finger to paint by hand
• The brush is clipped to its own shape: you cannot go over the line, ever
• Four brush widths, an eraser, undo on every mark
• Pinch to zoom, two fingers to move the canvas, one finger always paints
• 18 shades suggested for each canvas, plus a paintbox of 48 named pigments
• The original painting is one tap away, to compare whenever you want

THE SEAL

When a work is finished, you seal it. A sealed work cannot be touched up again - that is what makes it a work and not a draft. Its wall label keeps the record: time at work, sessions, breaks, fills, strokes, the date it was sealed. A museum label, not a social card.


THE GALLERY

Show a sealed work, or keep it to yourself, and change your mind whenever you like. In the gallery you can see what other people made, sort by most recent or by time spent, find every version of the same canvas - and watch a work being painted again: a twenty-second replay of the real marks, in their real rhythm. Reactions only, no comments.


A NOTE ON EVERY PAINTING

Each museum work comes with a note written for someone who knows nothing about it: what the scene shows, who painted it, the movement it belongs to, what is worth a closer look, and the words to know. Read it while you paint, or never. You are not coloring just anything.


STUDIO MUSIC

A radio of 52 tracks in eight moods - lo-fi, jazz, ambient, piano, acoustic, tropical, synthwave, soul. Its own volume, its own off switch.


IT WORKS OFFLINE

The studio never needs a connection. Canvases and notes are downloaded once, then stay yours - on the train, on a plane, anywhere. A work sealed offline publishes itself when the network comes back.

56 canvases are yours from the first minute: every pattern, and all of Awakening. That is what you learn the gesture on, and it stays free - you can reach the Master rank without spending anything.
