About this app

wuDict searches all your MDict, StarDict, AARD2, Lingvo DSL, Babylon and ZIM dictionaries on your device, providing instant offline search across your entire dictionary collection.

- Custom lemmatization (word-form morphology) for 24 languages, configurable via ☰ → ⚙️ → Lemmatization; English lemmatization comes pre-installed
- Immersive mode (full screen), with an option to draw content edge-to-edge, including the camera cutout area; enable by long-tapping the wudict icon in the launcher → Settings
- Browse all headwords in any dictionary via ☰ → Browse
- Select text in any app and pick → wuDict from the context menu
- Apply custom CSS styles and fonts via the embedded Styler: ☰ → ⚙️ → Custom Style
- Import dictionaries into wudict directly from your file manager: tap a .mdx/.dsl/.bgl/.zim/.slob/.zip/.7z file → Share > wuDict
- Long-tap a dictionary download link on any web page (.mdx/.slob/.dsl/.zip/.7z) and pick Share → wuDict to install it locally

Dictionaries are searchable immediately after adding them. wudict
builds a compact headword index in the background, making lookups
almost instant even across hundreds of dictionaries. Preparation is
automatic and requires no configuration; contains-search, full-text search and
media packing are optional per-dictionary switches — enable them only where
you need them. They require extra space, with the estimated size displayed
in the dictionary panel.

PRIVACY

- No account, no cloud, no telemetry. No ads.
- The only network permission is used to reach the server running inside the
app itself, on 127.0.0.1:6888
- No storage permission is required: dictionaries are imported
through the system file picker into the app's own storage.

OPEN SOURCE

uDict is free software, licensed under GPL-3.0. The same program runs on
Linux, macOS, Windows, and even Raspberry Pi.
