About this app

FoxDevelops follows analogue film from the tank to the finished image: it runs the development with recipes and a timer, then turns the negative into a positive using the phone's own camera.

Recipe library
Fifteen ready-to-use film and developer combinations, with dilution, standard temperature, per-step times and agitation pattern — Kodak Tri-X 400, Ilford HP5 Plus, Ilford Delta 100, Fujifilm Neopan ACROS II, Fomapan, Lomography and the colour C-41 process, among others.

Your own recipes
Save the combination you actually use, with as many steps as you need, and edit it when the results ask for a tweak. Change it just for this run or keep the change for good.

Multi-step timer
The timer runs developer, stop bath, fixer and wash in sequence, tells you when to agitate and keeps going in the background with a notification — pause and resume without reopening the app. Skip, go back or restart a step when the run goes off script.

Temperature compensation
Developer is never exactly at 20 °C. Enter the real temperature and the app recalculates every step from the recipe's compensation factor before the countdown starts.

Dilution maths
Give it the tank volume and the recipe's dilution and the app tells you how many millilitres of concentrate and water go in the mix — no mental arithmetic in the dark.

My Chemicals
A catalogue of the products on your bench, with type and default dilution, reusable across recipes instead of retyping (and misspelling) the same name every time.

NEGATIVE SCANNER

Capture with manual control
Photograph the negative with a backlight shining through the film. The camera opens with exposure, ISO and focus control (or on automatic, if you prefer), and the on-screen frame follows the format you pick: 135 (35mm), 110, 16mm, Super 8 and 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10 sheets.

Negative to positive
Tap the orange film base to calibrate and the app inverts the image channel by channel, discounting the mask. Then adjust brightness and contrast and crop the frame. Works for colour negative, black and white, and slide film too.

Batch export
Processed photos live on a screen of their own: select several at once and share them through Android's own sheet or copy them into a folder you choose.

Metric or imperial, temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit, volumes in millilitres or ounces. JPEG or PNG output. Nine languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Hindi and Urdu.

PRIVACY

Everything happens on your device. The app has no server, asks for no account, asks for no sign-in and works offline. Your photos, recipes and chemicals stay on the phone. No data collection, no tracking, no ads.
