■ ABOUT US

A tiny subcontractor for the prime, Nominal Industries. The mine collapsed, the budget was denied, and all that's left is a few cat miners.
Head Office has never shown its face. Only memos.

■ THE JOB

- Hiring: stamp the applications. Roxy, the recruiter Head Office sent over, runs the interviews. ""Keep expectations moderate.""
- Site command: head into the Breakthrough, send cats from your hand to the board, and merge matching cats. The cats swing the picks themselves.
- Weak spots: every ore vein has a weakness. Build your squad around Precision, Heavy, or Blast to land critical hits.
- OVERHEAT management: every merge fills the gauge. When it's full: OVERHEAT. For a while, everyone hits harder and tires slower.
- Facility recovery: every floor you break digs out another buried room. The Office, Storage, the Market, the Workshop, the Dig Site.
- Hands-on digging: Ricky runs the Dig Site but has no crew yet. The pickaxe is yours, boss.

■ WORKING CONDITIONS

- Location: a collapsed mine. It gets bigger the deeper you go.
- Hours: until it's all dug up.
- Close the game and the cats keep mining. Your share is settled up when you're back.
- Hazard pay: 320 gold. Allocated. Disbursement date undetermined.

■ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Able to look the other way when shavings don't make it into the ledger
- The nerve to deal with the Market at the end of the alley. Copper, the fox who runs it, calls it Cost Recovery.
- Comfortable with Off-Book Retrofits nobody signed off on. ""The ledger will record this as 'stationery'.""
