Your phone has hundreds of apps. You remember about twenty of them.
Life in 22 Taps sorts every app you own into 22 areas of ordinary life — Eat, Groceries, Money, Health, Transport, Work, Watch — so you can find things by what you need rather than by remembering what they are called.
Everything fits on one screen. No scrolling, no folders, no pages.
WHAT IT DOES
- Sorts every app on your phone automatically. On the phones we've tested, around 95% land in the right area straight away.
- 22 clear tiles on one screen, each showing how many apps are inside.
- Tap an area, see your apps, tap one and it opens straight away.
- Put up to five apps first in any tile, in your own order. The rest stay A to Z.
- Search by app name or by area: type "money" and every money app appears.
- Star your three favourites for the gold row on the main screen, with your recent apps beside them.
- Optional notification dots show which apps and areas have something new.
- Optional tidy-up list: the apps you haven't opened in a year.
WHY IT HELPS
Search is quick when you know the app's name. This is for the other times.
"I need to pay for parking" — you might have five parking apps and not remember which one covers this car park. Open Transport and they are all there together.
"I need to send money home" — every banking and transfer app you own, in one place.
MADE TO BE CALM
- Gentle low-saturation colours by default, with a brighter Vivid option in settings.
- Every tile has an icon and a label, so colour is never the only thing telling them apart.
- Large buttons and plain words. Nothing moves unless you move it.
- No feeds, and nothing asks for your attention unless you switch it on.
PUT THINGS WHERE YOU WANT THEM
No automatic sorting is ever perfect, and roughly one app in twenty needs a nudge. Hold your finger on any app and move it to the tile you think it belongs in. Your choice sticks, and it beats our sorting from then on. Anything we cannot confidently place goes into Other rather than disappearing. The same box opens App info, or uninstalls an app you installed — Android always asks you to confirm first.
SETTING IT UP FOR SOMEONE ELSE
Do it together once: their three favourites, their everyday apps first in each tile, and make it their home screen. After that, nothing moves unless they move it.
LOCK A TILE
Long-press a tile to lock it behind a Parent PIN, kept separate from the phone's own PIN or fingerprint. This hides an area within this app; it is not a substitute for Android's Family Link or similar supervision tools.
ONE PRICE, SHARED WITH YOUR FAMILY
Buy once and it's yours for good, with every future update included. Share it with up to five members of your Google Play family group through Family Library.
ABOUT THE OFFERS TILE
One tile, called Offers, shows local sponsors, events and promotions. Nothing ever appears over your other apps, no notifications are sent by it, and advertisers are given no information about you. If you would rather not have it, switch it off in settings and it disappears from the grid.
YOUR PRIVACY
- No account. No sign-up. No analytics. No tracking. The app has no internet access.
- Nothing is requested when you install it.
- Auto-lock: opened as an app, it asks for your phone's own fingerprint, PIN or password. Switch it off if you prefer. No password of ours.
- Two optional extras ask Android for access only when you turn them on, and you can withdraw either at any time: notification dots (which app has a notification, never what it says) and the forgotten-apps list (the date each app was last opened).
- Your favourites, locks and PIN never leave your phone.
- Back up your settings to a file you control, and restore it on a new phone.
