About this app

Appalachian CMH 23, Inc. is a 501c3 Non Profit organization with TV and Radio studios at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Our boards are made up of local folks from all over East Kentucky. It's our mission to celebrate and promote music from artists and bands from US 23 areas and beyond! Also to educate the workforce of tomorrow by giving college students the opportunity to learn hands on job skills while continuing their education. We are also excited to promote tourism for the good people of our beautiful region! Country Music Highway 23 gained its moniker due to the significant influence of country music on the area. The region has produced a remarkable number of talented musicians who went on to achieve national and international acclaim. The highway serves as a tribute to these artists and a celebration of the cultural heritage that defines Eastern Kentucky.

In the mid-1990s, the Kentucky State Legislature officially designated this stretch of road as Country Music Highway 23, recognizing its cultural importance. Since then, the highway has become a pilgrimage for music enthusiasts, drawing visitors from across the country to explore the roots of their favorite country music stars. U.S. Route 23 or U.S. Highway 23 (US 23) is a major north–south United States Numbered Highway between Jacksonville, Florida, and Mackinaw City, Michigan. The highway runs south to Jacksonville, Florida. The northern most point is at Interstate 75 (I-75) in Mackinaw City, Michigan. From Lake Michigan to the Atlantic Ocean, this is indeed an awesome highway!
