300 km/h. Foot down. Traffic dead ahead.
Five stretches, no loading, one sunset you are never going to catch.
Free 80s arcade racing: beach, desert, neon, alpine pass.
Sunset Highway is an arcade racer built the way they built them in 1986. One road, one car, one needle pinned at 300. Coin goes in, sun goes down, foot stays down.
FIVE STRETCHES, ONE RUN
COCONUT BEACH. Sea on your right, first gaps of the day on your left.
DESERT HIGHWAY. Wide, empty, flat out. This is where you find the top of the needle.
SUNSET COAST. Low sun, long bends. Drift wide here and the shoulder takes your run.
MIDNIGHT HIGHWAY. Dark road, neon, tail lights arriving faster than they look.
ALPINE PASS. Rally country. Switchback, hairpin, guardrail, repeat.
All five run together with no loading screen in between. You never leave the seat.
TAKE THE GAP
Two cars, one gap, closing. Go. Every car you shave past scores, and it scores the same whether you clear it by a metre or by a hand, so your score is simply how many you dared. String them together and the numbers climb fast.
THE CLOCK IS THE OTHER DRIVER
Checkpoints hand back seconds, so time is something you win, not something you spend. Cross late and the run ends right there. The needle goes to 300 km/h, and the readout flips to mph if that is how you think about speed.
SIMULATOR SPEED, KART-DIRECT STEERING
Two thumbs and a road. Point it and it goes, lift and it settles, lean on it through the bend and let it drift out to the line. The car answers exactly the same on EASY as it does on HARD, so every hour you put in still counts when you move up.
RACE YOUR OWN GHOST
Switch the ghost on and your best run comes back as a white car, driving beside you exactly the way you drove it. Watch where it pulls away: that is where your time went. Beat it and the new run takes its place.
SIX CHANNELS, TWELVE TRACKS
Pick a channel and it plays straight through the menu, the drive and the results screen without restarting. The music runs as long as the session does. Turn it up.
AUTO: HANDS OFF THE WHEEL
AUTO is the one with nothing riding on it. The car drives the whole road by itself while the radio plays, and the controls stay live the whole time. Steer and it steers, hit the gas and it goes, let go and it takes the wheel back. Put a channel on and watch the sun drop.
EASY, MEDIUM, HARD
Thicker traffic. Less time on the clock. Less room when a wheel drops onto the shoulder. Same handling in all three, so everything you learn on EASY still counts on HARD.
SIGN THE BOARD
Every difficulty keeps its own top five, and you sign it with three arcade letters, the way the machine always asked. Beat your own line and type them in again.
Free. Plays offline. Phone or tablet. Long enough to sink into, short enough to fit a wait for the bus.
If you ever fed coins into a cabinet with a wheel bolted to the front, chasing a sunset that never quite arrived, this one drives the way you remember it.
Foot down at 300 km/h. Drift the coast, thread the traffic, beat your own ghost.
