Automus is an independent, third-party music player for Android Automotive OS. It lets Apple Music subscribers play their own music library on their car's built-in display.

Automus is built for streaming playback. Content that is not available for streaming, such as personally uploaded songs, may have limited compatibility.

PRIVACY

Your password is never stored by Automus. Sign-in happens on your phone, not on your car screen.

Automus collects anonymous usage analytics and crash reports to improve app stability (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics).

Ratings and reviews

I normally do not pay for apps-I use only free ones-but I was very excited to be able to have access to my Apple Music on my Equinox EV. I am glad to have that, but the app is very clunky. Songs will play for a few seconds and skip. Songs will play and then restart halfway through. A song that is paused for a phone call or something similar will rarely start from where it left off. I’m glad to have access to Apple Music, but I expected more from an app that I had to pay for.

Like others have said, having Apple Music available on the dash without connecting a phone is a phenomenal concept! I hope the app’s functionality will improve with future updates. I installed this on a ‘24 Lyriq. My music and playlists were all on the screen after I signed in. The first few songs played fine, but then songs started repeating even though the song on the display would change. Some songs displayed as numbers and letters rather than the name. Looking forward to future updates.

I gave it 3 stars due to it being the only way to play Apple Music at this point but it has a lot of issues. The biggest one is stopping mid song and skipping to another song. Not sure why it happens. It is also very very slow. Sometimes it refuses to play at all and I have to switch to another app and then back in to get it to work again. Considering that this is a paid app it’s a bit frustrating to say the least
