What to do if the child chokes? When again the stable lateral position and when not? And what should I do if my child stops breathing?
We, Meike and Lynn, the founders of littelplan, asked ourselves these exact questions in spring 2020. At that time we both became mothers and first aid measures were not really present in our children's room.
And how do we manage to get families to deal more with this important topic and the measures to remain able to act in an emergency? Our answer was the littleplan first-aid posters, which have meanwhile received an award from the Björn-Steiger-Foundation.
Now we want to go one step further: our lives are so digital and our mobile phones are so present in everyday life that we have developed an app that young parents (and other caregivers) can use to familiarize themselves with first-aid movements over and over again.
We deliberately avoided long explanations and a lot of text. The most important points should be visible at a glance. This app is also designed in such a way that you can memorize the movements from time to time (in the subway, at the bus stop, etc.). This should therefore build up much more knowledge and be used less in the acute situation (the handles should be ready to be called up).
The littleplan app is structured like this:
- Baby / infant: swallowing & reanimation
- (Small) -Child: Swallow & resuscitate
- Overview "Emergency call"
- Fever
- Sun & insects
- Combustion
- Respiratory tract
- poisoning
The app has been created for laypersons with no previous medical knowledge and in accordance with the 2021 GRC guidelines. They serve as orientation and guidelines until the emergency doctor arrives. littleplan bears no responsibility for decisions made on the basis of these guidelines. We also recommend completing a first aid course.
