HexCaptions turns speech into real-time captions: live captions and live subtitles for any video playing on your phone, and speech to text for anyone talking near you. Speech recognition runs on your device, so your audio never leaves it, and once a language is downloaded it works offline.
Made for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, for watching videos with the sound off, for following a lecture or a meeting, and for understanding videos in a language you don't speak.

EASY TO READ
• Choose the caption text size, number of lines and background.

• The app is available in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
GOOD TO KNOW
• Needs Android 10 or later.
• Standard packs run on almost any phone. Whisper packs need more processing power and work best on recent phones.
• Some streaming apps block other apps from capturing their sound, so their audio can't be captioned.
• Most video apps pause when you switch away from them. To read captions while watching, use floating captions.
• Floating captions need the "Display over other apps" permission, which Android Go phones don't offer.
• Why microphone access? Android requires it to capture other apps' sound. HexCaptions only listens to your surroundings when you choose Microphone.
