◆ Making heatstroke prevention more accessible and accurate: With the enforcement of the revised Industrial Safety and Health Regulations in June 2025, heatstroke prevention measures in the workplace have become mandatory. "Weather Heat Index Monitor WBGT Simple" enables advanced heat index (WBGT) management with just a smartphone, without the need for expensive measuring instruments.

【1. Four major features of this app】
(1) No dedicated equipment required: There is no need to carry bulky measuring instruments with black globes.
(2) Supports 200,000 locations worldwide: In addition to 1400 locations in Japan, it supports weather data from around the world.
(3) Estimation of outdoor heat index considering wind speed: It reflects the effect of wind speed, which was difficult with conventional measuring instruments, and calculates more practical values.
(4) Adoption of a semi-physical model: Unlike statistical models specific to Japan, it is equipped with an estimation algorithm based on physical laws. Maintaining accuracy even overseas.
[2. How can the outdoor heat index be determined without a black globe?] This app estimates solar radiation using a physical model that combines the solar constant, latitude and longitude, cloud cover, and meteorological parameters (temperature, humidity, etc.). This enables precise simulation using only a smartphone, without the need for a black globe (black sphere) to measure heat from solar radiation.

[3. How can it support over 200,000 locations worldwide and over 1,400 locations in Japan?] While statistical models, such as the well-established Ono-Tonouchi model, are based on statistical processing of "past data from specific weather stations in Japan," this estimation model uses algorithms based on Stull's equation, Okada and Kusaka's equation, and physical estimation of solar radiation. Its strength lies in its ability to accurately derive the heat index (WBGT) from real-time online weather data using only a smartphone and this app. This enables the estimation of outdoor and indoor Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) values for over 1,400 locations in Japan and over 200,000 locations worldwide, something impossible with conventional statistical models. Comparison of estimated values from both models can be performed using the graphing function of the following Windows freeware:

[4. Why is considering wind speed important?] Many conventional heat index meters do not evaluate the cooling effect of wind speed. This application can estimate the outdoor heat index reflecting the influence of wind speed from online weather data.
[5. System Requirements] OS: Android 8.0 or later
[6. Easy 3-Step Usage]
(1) Initial Setup: Launch the application and register your free OpenWeather API key according to the manual linked on the settings page.
(2) Location Setting: Enter the "city name" for which you want to check the heat index.
(3) Monitoring: Outdoor and indoor WBGT estimated values are displayed in real time.

[11. [Development Background and Acknowledgments] This project is a new endeavor that combines LP&D LABORATORY's scientific expertise with the latest AI technology. We collaborated with Google's AI model "Gemini" as a development partner to develop a WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) estimation model (Watanabe-Gemini Model 1) and application. We express our sincere gratitude for the significant technical cooperation we received in object-oriented design advice and in constructing the heat index estimation logic using weather data.
