SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is a national youth-focused organization founded in 1981 with a mission to inspire and empower young people to lead safer, healthier lives. Originally created to help students say “No” to drinking and driving, SADD has evolved into a comprehensive youth health and safety movement that addresses the wide range of challenges young people face today.
Over the years, research has consistently shown that positive peer influence, youth leadership, and supportive environments play a significant role in helping teens avoid high-risk behaviors. Guided by these findings, SADD equips students with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to make smart, responsible decisions in their everyday lives.
Today, SADD stands as the nation’s leading organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions among youth. Its mission focuses on reducing underage drinking, drug use, impaired and risky driving, bullying, violence, and teen suicide. Through its chapters across the country, SADD provides leadership opportunities, educational programs, advocacy initiatives, and peer-to-peer engagement that encourage students to uplift one another and create safer school communities.
By empowering teens to be positive role models and change-makers, SADD continues to build a future where every student can thrive free from the impact of harmful choices.
