Camellia oleifera (Theaceae) is important woody oil crop. With the increasing of the intensive planting of the crop, the pests and diseases are becoming more serious. Based on the field investigation, high-definition photo shooting, forest farmers and forestry technical practical experience, literature review and expert experience, this system built a pest database including 22 species of the main insect pests of C. oleifera, including their morphological characteristics, biology, damage, prevention measures. They are 11 species feeding on leaf (Euproctis pseudoconspersa Strand, Gatesclarkeana idia Diakonoff, ect.), 9 species feeding on stem (Chreonoma atritarsis Picard, Casmara patrona Meyrick, ect.), 2 species feeding on fruit (Curculio chinensis Chevrolat, etc.). With the Lucid system, 102 characteristics were extracted contains 4 I-level feature groups, 10 II-level features and 18 III-level features, and all the feature status linking with the 244 HD pictures. The expert system provides flexible and effective keys for identification to serve the farmers and technicians.
