ShadowMap is a sun-shadow analysis tool that lets you measure how much sunlight and shadow a location receives throughout the day.
Using your phone's camera, GPS, compass, and motion sensors, it scans the surroundings of your location; accounting for buildings, trees, and other obstacles, it compares the sun's daily path to these obstacles. The result: a detailed report showing when that location receives sunlight and when it receives shadow.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Stand at the location you want to analyze.
2. Take guided photos to the north, east, south, west, and hillside directions.
3. Draw the silhouette of any obstacles (buildings, trees, walls) that obscure the sky in each photo.
4. Tap the "Generate Shadow Report" button.
5. Review the daily and seasonal sun/shadow results.

MEASUREMENT TIPS
• Rotate on your own axis at the target point; do not walk around. • Take all surrounding photos from the same height as much as possible. • Calibrate your phone's compass before measuring; vehicles and large metal objects can affect the compass. • Draw the obstacle boundary as the visible silhouette that obscures the sky, not the entire object.
PRIVACY
Your projects and photos are stored only on your device. Sun position calculation is done on the device without an internet connection.
