About this app
‘SmartGaon’ connects Indian villages and their residents to the world of information and technology. It’s knowledge and information center, market place and helpline makes your ‘gaon’ a ‘SmartGaon’. SMART is an acronym that embodies our mission as follows:
S- Social security schemes
M- Modern urban amenities
A- Adoption of smart agriculture practices
R- Roads infrastructure & transportation
T- Tech savvy for the all-round development of rural India
Our mission is to provide awareness about Government Schemes & Policies to Farmers and setup good digital Infrastructure in village so that all villagers can be connected across the globe
SmartGaon Development Foundation (SmartGaon) aims to improve quality of life of villagers by developing overall infrastructure with access to digital education to all with the help of NGOs and Village team. The platform acts as an enabler to the village population by connecting them to digital world by way of technology brought to them at the doors.
The Mobile app serves to realize the mission stated above. It has following key features -
1. the villagers’ directory
2. News and Events calendar
3. Health center call
4. Information broadcasting and sharing platform
5. Knowledge center about government schemes
6. Bilingual support for easy accessibility (available in English and Hindi),
Our pilot project was conducted in Taudhakpur (Mirzapur Urf Taudhakpur), that was a village with limited amenities in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh before we took over. It is now a 'SmartGaon' with all the basic amenities like toilets, CCTV Cameras, Public Address Systems, Dustbins and Streetlights. It also has Adarsh Primary Schools, Regular health check-up events and Community health centers, a Wifi Zone in addition to 18-20 hours power Supply.
The app serves as an enabler in the development as all initiatives undertaken are updated, recorded, tracked and monitored on the app, ensuring free flow of information and bringing about community wellbeing.
As quoted by Mahatma Gandhi, “The future of India lies in its villages”. There is tremendous potential for sustainable development and growth in rural India and we BELIEVE we can acheive this dream.
