A recognized danger is known to be half a danger. But: recognition needs knowledge! The “Avalanche Knowledge” app is intended to help enthusiastic winter sports enthusiasts to identify crucial problems and hazard patterns in snow and avalanche knowledge. The basis of this app can be found in the 7th edition of the book "lawine." By Rudi Mair and Patrick Nairz. The book bundles the knowledge from 25 years of accident analyzes by the Tyrolean Avalanche Warning Service. It is no coincidence that avalanche accidents happen in similar places at similar times. Upon closer analysis of avalanches, the authors identified a system that runs like a red thread through the entire knowledge of snow and avalanches. The aim of this app is to offer so-called “dry training” for interested winter sports enthusiasts so that hazard patterns can be recognized more quickly in practice and so (hopefully) some avalanche accidents can be prevented.
Modern form of further education
With digitized education, the effectiveness of training can be increased and the sustainability of the knowledge acquired can be proven. In addition to successfully established further training channels, the mobile app avalanche knowledge provides further training where practice begins. It offers learning content where it is needed. In small bites for in between. Always and everywhere. Short and sweet, flexible and modular.
Microtraining via app is learning on the smartphone and in small steps. The mobile learning concept allows flexibility in terms of time and space and enables a self-controlled and individualized learning experience, which - subsequently - serves to secure knowledge over the long term. The content is presented in short and compact flashcards and videos that can be accessed anytime and anywhere. The learning progress can also be checked at any time.
Innovative education and training
The quality and the constant further development of interested winter sports enthusiasts, as well as the partners from mountain rescue, slope rescue, avalanche warning services, etc. is the highest priority for avalanche knowledge.
In general, the complexes of questions are prepared so that they can be worked on interactively. All content is easily accessible, can be updated quickly and scaled both externally and internally. In addition, learning progress can be observed and learning impulses can be set where they are necessary.
The strategy - this is how learning works today
Avalanche knowledge uses the micro-training method for digital knowledge transfer. The essence of a wide variety of knowledge is prepared in compact form and deepened through short and active learning steps. An algorithm is used for this in classic learning. The questions are to be answered in random order. If a question is answered incorrectly, it will come back later - until it is answered correctly three times in a row in the learning unit.
In addition to classic learning, level learning is also offered. In level learning, the system divides the questions into three levels and asked them at random. There is a break between the individual levels in order to save the content in the best possible way. This is necessary in order to achieve a brain-friendly and sustainable acquisition of knowledge. A final test makes the learning progress visible and shows where possible deficits lie and, if necessary, a repetition is useful.
Learning stimuli through quizzes and / or learning duels
With avalanche knowledge, further education and training should be combined with joy. The playful approach to learning is implemented through the possibility of quiz duels. All participants or external partners can be challenged to a duel. This makes learning even more entertaining. The following game mode is possible: In three rounds of questions each with 3 questions, it is determined who is the knowledge queen or who is the knowledge king.
