קבע עיתים helps you guard your time without giving up your phone entirely.
Choose the apps that steal your attention. They stay blocked until you pass a short halacha quiz drawn from Rabbi Eliezer Melamed's Pninei Halacha — studied in Hebrew, grounded in the sefer's own words.
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE (AccessibilityService API)
קבע עיתים is a voluntary self-control and digital-wellbeing app — not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities, and it does not declare IsAccessibilityTool.
Before you can turn guarding on, the app shows a prominent in-app disclosure; you must tap Agree and then enable קבע עיתים under Android Settings → Accessibility. Without that consent, the service stays off.
Core functionality that uses the AccessibilityService API:
• Detect when an app you chose to guard comes to the foreground, so the app can show a halacha quiz before you continue.
• Detect Android Settings or system installer screens that mention uninstalling קבע עיתים or turning this service off, so you must pass a quiz first — only after you turned on uninstall protection yourself. The app does not change system settings without your permission, does not work around Android privacy controls, and does not use the UI in a deceptive way.
What the service reads: foreground app package name only, plus text on Settings/installer screens related to removing this app or the service. It does not read messages, emails, photos, passwords, or other apps' content. It does not record the screen, microphone, or remote call audio. Accessibility data stays on your device and is not sold or shared with third parties.
You can disable the service at any time in Settings → Accessibility. The library and quizzes still work; guarding apps will not.
Where possible, the app also uses narrower permissions (Usage access, display over other apps, foreground service) as backup when the accessibility service is off — but reliable guarding requires the service you explicitly enabled.

HOW IT WORKS
• Pick apps to guard and how many minutes a passed quiz buys.
• Opening a guarded app shows a quiz first; pass, and your minutes tick down only while you are actually in that app.
• Tightening protection is immediate; loosening it requires passing another quiz.
• Optional daily budget is the hard stop that no amount of studying extends.
SHEMA REMINDER
The verse Shema Yisrael appears on the quiz wall and, from time to time, briefly over whatever is on screen — a quiet nudge to keep the phone sanctified, not a ruling or psak.

Questions come from the CC BY 4.0 Pninei Halacha corpus (ph.yhb.org.il). They are machine-generated and machine-verified, not reviewed by a rav, and the app is not hora'ah lema'aseh.
