The Zlín Architectural Manual (ZAM) is a professional popularization database of architectural and artistic objects, sets of buildings and public spaces created in the years 1894–2018. The concept of the individual routes was developed by an interdisciplinary team consisting of historians, art historians, architects and sociologists.
Thanks to this cooperation, the resulting form is dedicated not only to architecturally valuable objects, but also to phenomena that are connected with the organization of the Baťa company, the rules of its management, the method of education and everyday education.
The database consists of texts, archival plans and photographs, as well as contemporary photo documentation. Some entries are supplemented by period materials that have not yet been published. In the future, the routes should also be connected with orientation signs in public space. The database is also expanded by specialist texts highlighting events or phenomena that influenced not only the architectural but also the social and historical development of the city.
In its concept, ZAM is intended for all those interested in architecture, urban planning and the modern history of cities. Residents of Zlín can learn more about the place in which they live through the database. ZAM is also an ideal tool for tourists, available 24 hours a day. For those whose primary goal is to attend a conference, fair or other specific event, but are also looking for a way to get to know a foreign city better in their free time. At the same time, it is also available to visitors who come to Zlín specifically to learn about industrial sites, modern forms of public space planning and Bať architecture and are looking for reliable information concentrated in one place.
