An invaluable musicians' tool. This is a great app, and worth its weight in gold on jazz gigs. Please keep up the great work, and keep the focus on musicians who are using this app on gigs (rather than as a sequencer to practice with at home). While this function is also useful (with probably a much bigger potential market), it's as an on-the-gig repertoire aid (in any key) that iRP is unique. My tattered old Real Book collection is now in semi-retirement...
The only issue I have with this app is that my recording doesn't sync with the audio (playing output is generally a couple beats ahead of the track if I go 120 bpm, or even worse at higher tempos). I have experimented with different input volumes, output volumes, different headphones, audio buffer rates, or even no headphones. I can't seem to find the issue. I am the only one in my improv class with this issue, (and also coincidentally the only one with an Android phone in a sea of iPhones). Looking for help.
Without a doubt I can say that having a convenience that iReal app provides is the single most effective element that took my guitar practice and consequently my playing to a whole another level. When I needed a support it was almost instant response. Edit: still rocks, the one thing that I wish it could do is to sync across devices.
Great app I use irealb on solo gigs. On 99% of the tunes I've entered my own chords. Even playing the basic chords on the first chorus and my sub chords for the solo choruses and create my own endings. Once I learned how to shrink the bars, there's plenty of room to enter your own arrangements. The only rhythms I don't use are the ballad rhythms. They're just slowed down versions of the faster rhythms. The Latin rhythms especially are good to play with. Ray
LOVE it. Extremely valuable app. I use it specifically for bluegrass (sometimes blues). Very well thought out. Type in a chord progression and a style (country, jazz, blues etc), and run! You can change the key and tempo, and loop it over and over. (There's a cool learning mode speeds up the tempo form one loop to the next. Brilliant). And you don't HAVE to create your own - there are tons of songs created by others and generously made available online - easy to download batches of them. Sometimes I find the interface a LITTLE ... "clunky" (not 100% intuitive) ... but you get used to it, and it's WORTH it. One of a small number of apps (not just music) that make up an indispensable core or apps on my phone.
Great app! I use the app to train my guitar and drum playing. Had some problems with bluetooth-headset but that all went away after changing the audio buffer size as suggested by the developer. Thank you for your quick reply and the great app.
