About this app

CalcSolver gives you the answer and the working behind it. Type a problem, tap Calculate, and read the solution one numbered step at a time, so you can check your own method or learn the routine before a test.

SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR WITH STEPS
Enter an expression such as 2 + 3 × 4² and see it reduced one operation at a time: brackets, exponents, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Switch between degrees and radians for sine, cosine, tangent and their inverses. Logarithms, roots, factorials, percentages and the last answer are all on the keypad.

ARITHMETIC AND NUMBERS
- Fractions: add, subtract, multiply and divide, including mixed numbers and decimals, with the common denominator shown.
- Simplify a fraction with Euclid's algorithm.
- Percentages: percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, the original value, and percent change.
- LCM and GCF of up to eight numbers, with prime factorisations.
- Prime factorisation, factors and factor pairs, and factorials with exact digits.
- Ratios: simplify a ratio or solve a proportion.

- Quadratic equations: discriminant, both roots (including complex roots), factored form and vertex.
- Linear equations with variables on both sides, checked by substitution.

- Mean, median, mode, range, and sample and population standard deviation.
- Permutations and combinations, with or without repeats, using exact whole-number arithmetic.
- Probability of one event, and of "A and B" or "A or B" for independent events.

GEOMETRY
- Pythagorean theorem: find a missing side or test for a right triangle.
- Circle: radius, diameter, circumference and area from any one value.
- Triangle from three sides: area, angles and type.
- Volume and surface area of cubes, cuboids, cylinders, spheres and cones.
