Mayilpeely is a monthly children’s magazine published by Balagokulam, Kerala’s largest socio-cultural organization for children in the World. Since its launch in 1999, Mayilpeely has grown into one of the most beloved and trusted reading companions for young minds across India and beyond. The name ‘Mayilpeely’ means ‘peacock feather’ in Malayalam — a symbol of beauty, wisdom, and Lord Krishna’s divine play — reflecting the magazine’s core aim: to nurture beauty of thought, clarity of values, and joy of learning in every child
For over 2.5 decades, Mayilpeely has been published in Malayalam, reaching thousands of homes, schools, and Balagokulam units every month. Its pages are filled with stories, poems, activities, puzzles, science corners, and real-life role models that root children in Bharatiya culture while sparking curiosity about the wider world. Each issue is carefully designed to balance entertainment with education, imagination with discipline, and modern knowledge with timeless dharma.
Recognizing the need to connect with children across linguistic boundaries, Mayilpeely Charitable society who is the owner of magazine launched the Mayilpeely English Digest in 2022. The Digest carries the same spirit and substance as the Malayalam edition but in simple, engaging English. It ensures that children who study in English-medium schools, or those living outside Kerala and India, can still access stories of our heritage, values, and heroes without a language barrier. Together, the Malayalam and English editions serve one mission: to raise a generation of confident, compassionate, and culturally grounded young Indians.
