Bill Smooth is an Australian-made app that combines your bills and payments into a smaller, more manageable amount that you transfer to a separate account. These amounts will cover all your bills as they become due. This is called ‘bill smoothing’.

The app reminds you when payments are due (with customisable notifications) so you can go into your bank account and pay your bills on time.

The app also gives you real-time analytics about all your payments in an easy-to-read format. So you will always know where you’re at and what’s coming up.

You can disable the smoothing feature if you want to use Bill Smooth as a bill reminder app only.

Here’s how it works:
1. You input all your payments, including bills, school fees, fuel and even things you want to save for, like a holiday or car.
2. Bill Smooth calculates how much you need to put aside each pay day to cover them.
3. You transfer that amount into a bank account of your choice every pay day.
4. When the bills arrive, you have the funds to pay them.
5. Bill Smooth advises you how much to top up your account every pay day based on what payments are coming up. It also displays your future top-ups one year in advance.

Note: Currently you can’t pay your bills within Bill Smooth, but we’re working hard to provide this feature soon!

No Bill Shock
Many utility companies allow you to bill smooth, but not transfer a set amount on a date of your choice. But Bill Smooth combines your bills into one manageable amount that coincides with your pay date. You can put money aside when get paid and then enjoy what’s left without the worry of ‘bill shock’.

Interest on your money
As you’re transferring set amounts into accounts of your choice within your own bank, you can earn interest while waiting for your bills to arrive.

Control over you account
The money never leaves your account until you use it to pay bills – so you always have control of it. If you need to access the funds, Bill Smooth will recalculate and adjust your top-ups accordingly.

Ratings and reviews

Here's the thing: this isn't your typical budget/bill planner. This let's you plan your budget based on your payday, (called top up dates). The confusing part is that it lets you (forces you to) organize your bills based on the accounts you use. Joint checking, cash, savings, etc. On your pay day, it tells you exactly how much to transfer into those accounts so you have enough to pay expenses on the day each one is due. But with this, you can simply put your bills on auto pay and track! 10 stars

The app has potential but is missing a few key components. When adding the amount in your bank you can't continue unless you deposit the extra needed funds - if this isn't available you don't get an accurate picture of what you have in your bank. You have to pay the savings amount up front and there is no option to add smaller amounts each pay cycle and see the goal being reached. Once you add your deposit there's no option to edit this amount or transfer to another account.

This app is quite unique on the Play Store. I was looking for a simple bill reminder app and stumbled across this and gave it a go. It will change the way you budget for bills and if you are like me, you can throw away your spreadsheets! It could do with options for savings goals and adhoc but still regular bills, but you can work around that. 👍
