If the players make the same choice, the game ends in a draw. Otherwise, according to the rock-paper-scissors hierarchy, one player wins:
Stone breaks scissors.
Scissors cut the paper.
Paper wraps stone.
The game is usually best played as a match with 2 or 3 rounds. Players make their choices at the same time in each round, and the results are compared at the end of the round. The player who wins the most rounds is declared the winner of the game.

Oyuncular aynı seçimi yaparsa, oyun berabere biter. Aksi takdirde, taş kağıt makas hiyerarşisine göre bir oyuncu galip gelir:
Taş, makası kırar.
Makas, kağıdı keser.
Kağıt, taşı sarar.
Oyun genellikle en iyi 2 veya 3 tura sahip bir maç şeklinde oynanır. Oyuncular her turda seçimlerini aynı anda yapar ve tur sonunda sonuçlar karşılaştırılır. En çok turu kazanan oyuncu oyunun galibi ilan edilir.
