About this app

WLED Max is a WLED controller app for Android that makes your LED strip easy to run. It finds your WLED devices on your home Wi-Fi, shows you what an effect looks like before you send it, and keeps your everyday controls one tap away. Whether it is ambient lighting at home, a gaming setup, or holiday and Christmas lights outside, your phone talks to your lights directly over your home Wi-Fi, with no cloud service in between. No sign-up, no account, and no ads.

SEE EFFECTS BEFORE YOU PICK THEM
Browse live, moving previews of 180+ WLED effects, drawn as an LED strip or as a 2D matrix to match your setup. Filter for effects that react to volume or frequency, or ones made for matrices. Long-press any effect you never use to hide it. Tap an effect to apply it. Fine-tune with palettes and the speed, intensity, and custom sliders.

COLORS THAT MATCH YOUR LIGHTS
On-screen colors are drawn to reflect what your LEDs show, including the white channel on RGBW strips. Use quick colors, the full color picker, or the color temperature slider for tunable white (CCT) lights.

PRESETS AND PLAYLISTS
Save a look and bring it back later with its settings kept. Edit a preset's parameters in place, build playlists, and use global presets across devices.

SEGMENT STUDIO
Split one LED strip into zones with exact start, end, and length. Step through segments one at a time, get a warning if two overlap, and undo a delete if you change your mind. Give each segment its own effect and colors.

ALL YOUR WLED DEVICES
New devices on your network appear on their own, or you can add one by IP address. Setting up a brand new WLED board? WLED Max can connect to its Wi-Fi setup hotspot and get it onto your network. Group devices so one tap controls a whole room, and turn any light or group on or off right from your device list.

MUSIC REACTIVE LIGHTS
Turn your lights music reactive. Your phone's microphone drives sound-reactive effects, great for parties and light shows. WLED Max sends audio data using WLED's audio sync, so your device needs an audio-reactive WLED build. It keeps running with the screen off.

LIGHTS THAT FOLLOW YOUR DAY
On lights with tunable white, Circadian mode shifts color temperature with sunrise and sunset for your city. Set a sleep timer that fades the lights out, a sunrise mode that slowly brightens them like a wake-up light, and schedules for the rest.

WIDGETS AND QUICK SETTINGS
Home screen widgets for power, brightness, colors, presets, and effects, plus a Quick Settings tile, so you can change the lights without opening the app.

DEVICE SETTINGS AND UPDATES
Update WLED firmware from the app. WLED Max matches the firmware build to your board. The full WLED settings are here too: Wi-Fi, LED setup, sync, schedules, security, and updates. Back up and restore device configurations, and export or import your app data.

Contact us from inside the app. You will get a notification when we reply. Optional usage stats and error reports help us improve the app, and you can turn either off in Settings.

WORKS WITH WLED HARDWARE
ESP32 and ESP8266 controllers running WLED, with addressable LEDs such as WS2812B, WS2811, and WS2815, RGBW strips such as SK6812, and SPI strips such as APA102. Your phone and your lights just need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

PRICING
Every feature is included for one WLED device. A one-time upgrade adds unlimited devices. No subscription.

What’s new

New: Daily Schedules. Open Schedule & Timer on the Control tab, pick the Schedule tab, and set a turn-on and turn-off time for every day or just the days you choose. It runs on your light, so your phone does not need to be nearby.

Also in this update:
- Schedule & Timer now has two clear tabs, Timer and Schedule.
- Saving a playlist no longer starts it, and stopping a playlist brings your lights back to how they were.
- Small fixes and improvements.
